This Syllables Teach-Its unit includes a rigorous, fun, and engaging lesson to help you teach this difficult skill to your students.
☞ a Scripted Standards-Based Lesson Plan that includes Learning Targets, Materials, Standards, and a scripted lesson plan to help you effectively teach about what Syllables are and how Syllables are made and used. (3 days of lessons)
☞ a Whole Group Active Engagement Activity to engage and excite your students to help them learn about syllables. Mini Lesson, site on the carpet with your students and begin by saying a few sentences to the class, but as you say the words you will clap every syllable.
☞ an Guided Practice Activity where the students will organize in to groups of 4 students. Have 4 or 5 pocket charts (not included) hanging up around the carpet area. They will then do the stretch-it, hear-it, divide-it strategy using the words on the papers you gave them.
☞ an Independent Practice Activity where the students will do a simple cut and paste activity where they will follow the same strategy and categorize the words as one or two syllable words.
