Included in this unit is:

1 A Famous E-X-P-L-O-R-E-R Flip Flap Book® - The students will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned about a specific explorer they researched.
They will:
- draw and illustrate the Explorer that they researched
- make new words using the letters in their Explorer's last name
- write the country that sponsored their journey and color it in on a world map
- write what their Explorer was hoping to discover
- on scroll-like clipart they will write the explorer's date of birth and death, discoveries if any, and fascinating facts about the explorer or their journey
- draw and color an illustration of any hardships that their explorer endured on their journey {on a vintage photograph}, write a heading for the illustration, and a short paragraph describing the hardships and how they would overcome, if they were
- map skills
- label the continents on the world map, label the compass rose, label where their explorer began their journey and ended their journey, draw the route their explorer took, complete the map key, and describe any discoveries their explorer made on their journey
- create a Timeline of Exploration for their explorer's life or journey including 8 specific chronological dates and explanations of the date
Please Note: This unit requires 8 1/2 x 11 AND 8 1/2 x 14 (legal size) photocopy paper. In order to print this unit, you will need BOTH SIZES OF PAPER!
