This resource is FILLED with writing and word work activities about the Pilgrims, the Wampanoags, and the First Thanksgiving. This Pilgrim-Shaped Booklet will keep your students engaged and learning all through the week!
This Pilgrim and Wampanoag Shaped Writing Booklet has 15 pages of writing activities for your students to use to keep them engaged and learning during the Thanksgiving week.
Read your students some Thanksgiving stories, MODEL how to create the booklet for their interactive notebooks, give them clear directions on how to complete the activities...and LET THEM WRITE! When your students complete the activities, they can adhere it to their INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOKS, hang it up as a bulletin board display, or adhere it to construction paper.
The students will:

- write about who the Pilgrims were
- write about who the Wampanoags were
- complete a Pilgrim graphic organizer describing what the Pilgrims ate, wore, felt, wanted, and did
- complete a Wampanoag graphic organizer describing what they ate, wore, felt, wanted, and did
- explain WHY the Pilgrims had the First Thanksgiving
- describe some of the foods that were eaten at the first Thanksgiving
- complete a graphic organizer to compare and contrast the Pilgrims and Wampanoags
- complete a graphic organizer comparing and contrasting a Pilgrim to themselves {boy and girl version included}
- write about the voyage on the Mayflower
- complete a graphic organizer where they must CHOOSE if they would rather be a Pilgrim or a Wampanoag and supply three reasons for their choice
- write an OPINION PARAGRAPH using their graphic organizer on their I Would Rather.. graphic organizer
- do a Making Words activity using the word THANKSGIVING and writing their new words inside of turkeys
- write about what they do on Thanksgiving
- write about what their favorite Thanksgiving food to eat
- blank lined paper template included (adding your own topics to write about)
