This Homophones Words Teach-Its® unit includes a rigorous, fun, and engaging lesson to help you teach this skill to your students.
This unit includes:
☞ a Scripted Standards-Based Lesson Plan that includes Learning Targets, Materials, Standards, and a scripted lesson plan to help you effectively teach about what Homophones are and how Homophones are used.
☞ a Whole Group Active Engagement Activity to engage and excite your students to help them learn about adjectives. You will do a read-aloud of the story How Much Can a Bare Bear Bear? by Brian Cleary (book not included) or any picture book you have on homophones. You will have a discussion about homophones and the difference between homonyms, homophones, and homographs.
☞ a Guided Practice Activity where the students will work together now that they are familiar with compound words. The students will use the homophone tree or pocket chart for this part of the lesson.
☞ an Independent Practice Activity where the students will complete a large pear craft entitled homophone pairs. This can be done with or without a partner. These homophone pears make an adorable bulletin board display.
