This Antonyms Teach-Its® unit includes a rigorous, fun, and engaging lesson to help you teach this skill to your students.
This unit includes:
☞ a Scripted Standards-Based Lesson Plan that includes Learning Targets, Materials, Standards, and a scripted lesson plan to help you effectively teach about what antonyms are and how antonyms are used.
☞ a Whole Group Active Engagement Activity to engage and excite your students to help them learn about antonyms. You will engage your students defining what an antonym is and conduct a read-aloud of the book Stop and Go, Yes and No by Brian Cleary (not included) or another book on antonyms.
☞ a Guided Practice Activity where the students will create a large circle on your carpet area and play a game of I have, Who Has with antonyms. After the game is completed, all of the antonyms will be added to a pocket chart to be displayed.
☞ an Independent Practice Activity where the students will complete a craftivity where they will create a large arrow cut out showing the words UP and DOWN in large words on the arrow. Underneath the arrow the students will illustrate different antonyms and write the antonyms in sentences. These make a very eye-catching bulletin board display when they are completed.
